With most businesses closed in this time of social distancing, a drive through the Niagara County country side presented a nice diversion, especially as it gave me the opportunity to visit a place I’d never visited before, Wolf Maple Farm. There are quite a few maple farms producing maple syrup in rural Western New York. Wolf was relatively close and had very positive reviews on social media.
Saturday morning I contacted the owner through Facebook and asked if I’d be able to pick up some goods. I ordered maple syrup, bourbon maple syrup, and maple cream. He advised that my order would be on a table of the porch of the sugar house, and to leave money in the designated receptacle.

It was a beautiful day for a countryside drive. I went directly to the sugar house, picked up my bagged order, left my money, and departed. I was the only person there, where as on a normal day this time of year there’d be quite a few people touring the grounds. From there I continued north for a quick stop at Schwab’s Farm Market, but sadly it was closed.

So not much of an adventure, but the maple syrup and maple cream were the perfect toppings on our Easter morning homemade waffles.
A visit to Wolf Maple Farm also provides an opportunity to take a short 2 mile drive to the Iroquois Wildlife Refuge, aka, Alabama Swamps. The scenic overlooks are outstanding, and the keen observer will hopefully catch site of a bald eagle, typically from the north-looking overlooks.
