Farm Market Saturday

There are a lot of great farmers markets and everyone has their favorites. On a warm sunny July Saturday we visited our favorite farm market in North Tonawanda, NY, in southwestern Niagara County. Historically this has been a large market with tons of vendors, but it had fallen off for the last couple of years supposedly due to some new regulations that resulted in many vendors pulling out. I won’t tell that story because I don’t know it, but it was a welcome site to visit the market for our first time this year and see that it is back in full in all its glory. The market has been in business for over 110 years and boasts over 90 vendors, selling

Having gathered a basket full of veggies, and working up an appetite looking at all the prepared foods available, we ventured a little further south into North Tonawanda for a late breakfast at an excellent breakfast & lunch restaurant called Figmor (which stands for ‘Finally I’ve got my own restaurant’). We parked on trendy Webster Street, checked in at Figmor which had an expected 35 minute wait, and then walked two blocks south on Webster, past the infamous Riviera Theater, to Coffee & Stone Cafe. Coffee and Stone is an excellent, very busy coffee shop with friendly employees, great service and excellent coffee drinks. We grabbed a seat and enjoyed a couple of iced cappuccinos as we waited for a call from Figmor for our table.

Our region has several top rated breakfast places and Figmor is among the best. We enjoyed omelets and shared a short stack of pancakes, ending a great morning visiting three awesome businesses in North Tonawanda.
